Gold FC Seal NLO Division One Slot Ahead of 2026 Season

Gold Football Club have officially secured a place in the Nationwide League One Division One following confirmation from the NLO Secretariat, marking a significant step for grassroots football development in Osun State.

The newly established club will compete in the 2026 NLO season, which is scheduled to commence on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Based in Ede and affiliated with the Osun State Football Association, Gold FC earned their spot in Nigeria’s third-tier league through the acquisition of the slot previously held by Max FC of Benue State.

In line with league regulations, the NLO confirmed that Gold FC, who are situated at the Federal Polytechnic Ede, will play all their home matches within Osun State.

Reacting to the development, Executive President of the club, Mr Ayankunle Segun, widely known as Tee Gold, described the confirmation as the fulfilment of a long-standing ambition.

Speaking in a phone conversation, Segun said the club was founded with a clear vision of talent development and competitiveness within Nigerian football.

“It’s an ambition that I’ve been nursing for a very long time to establish a club that will discover talents and compete in the Nigerian league and, of course, to do business because football now is business. I’m excited to see this dream come true,” he said.

Looking ahead to the upcoming campaign, Segun stressed a measured approach to the club’s debut season in the division.

“We will be competing in the NLO Division One, and I’m excited to see how we perform. I’m just focused on taking it one game at a time. Winning the league would be nice, but most importantly, making sure the club is fully ready to play at the next level when the opportunity comes is more important to me,” he added.
