Kano Pillars delivered a commanding performance at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, as they swept aside Nasarawa United 3-0 in their Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 19 clash.
The hosts began brightly and were handed an early opportunity to take the lead when Mustapha Jibrin was fouled in the penalty area after 20 minutes. Veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali stepped up but failed to convert from the spot, with Nasarawa United surviving the scare.
Pillars, however, did not have to wait long to break the deadlock. Three minutes later, Mustapha Umar found the net with a composed finish to put the Sai Masu Gida ahead, a goal that separated both sides at the interval.
The second half saw Kano Pillars tighten their grip on the contest. Chidozie Jude Okorie doubled the advantage in the 68th minute, capitalising on sustained pressure from the home side.
Just four minutes later, Mustapha Jibrin added a third goal, effectively sealing a dominant victory for the Kano-based club.
Nasarawa United struggled to respond and were unable to halt Pillars’ attacking rhythm. Despite the heavy defeat, the visitors remained defiant in their post-match message, expressing confidence in returning to winning ways after the mid-season break.
The result sees Kano Pillars end the first stanza of the NPFL season on a high, while Nasarawa United are left with questions to answer after a difficult afternoon in Kano.
