Nigeria U-15 Keep Semifinal Dream Alive With Vital Win Over Benin

Nigeria’s U-15 boys revived their African Schools Football Championship campaign with a determined 1–0 victory over Benin Republic on Tuesday morning, restoring belief after their disappointing 4–1 loss to Côte d’Ivoire on Monday.

The narrow win moves Nigeria to three points, yet their place in the semifinals remains uncertain. Their progression now depends on the result of the final group match between Côte d’Ivoire and Benin Republic.

Nigeria will qualify if Côte d’Ivoire beat Benin Republic. A draw will also favour the young Nigerians. However, a Benin Republic victory would see Nigeria eliminated on goal difference.

The semifinal fixtures are set for Wednesday, with the losers’ final and championship match to follow on Thursday.

Now in its fourth edition, the African Schools Football Championship continues to give young talents across the continent a valuable platform for national and international exposure.
