Osayi-Samuel Reacts as Alebiosu Suffers Injury on AFCON Debut

Super Eagles right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel has expressed sadness over teammate Ryan Alebiosu following the defender’s injury setback at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Alebiosu made his Super Eagles debut in Nigeria’s final Group C fixture against Uganda on Tuesday, featuring in the clash against the Cranes.

However, the Blackburn Rovers player sustained an injury to his right leg during the encounter, cutting short what had been a promising first appearance at the tournament.

The 24-year-old is expected to be sidelined for about a month, dealing a blow to his hopes of further involvement in Nigeria’s AFCON campaign.

Reacting to the setback, Osayi-Samuel praised Alebiosu’s performance and extended his best wishes for a swift recovery.

“Ryan had a great debut and it was good to see,” Osayi-Samuel told Elegbete TV Sports.

“Unfortunately, getting injured on your debut is a bit sad.

“Overall, I am sure he will be happy he made his debut at the AFCON and played well. I wish him all the best.”
