Nigeria’s Super Falcons will intensify preparations for the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a two-match friendly series against Cameroon in Yaoundé.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that the ten-time African champions will face the Indomitable Lionesses in a double-header this week, offering head coach Justine Madugu a final opportunity to assess his squad against top continental opposition.
With the Women's Africa Cup of Nations set to kick off in Morocco in a matter of weeks, the title holders have prioritised competitive fixtures over extended training camps.
The friendlies are scheduled for Saturday and the following Tuesday and form the core of Nigeria’s final build-up phase.
Cameroon, one of Africa’s strongest women’s sides, are also preparing for the continental tournament. The Lionesses opened camp last week and will use the matches to refine tactical structure and team cohesion.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and Malawi. Cameroon will compete in Group D with Ghana, Cape Verde and Mali.
For Madugu, the fixtures provide clarity ahead of final squad decisions and tactical adjustments. The Super Falcons have been rebuilding since the last edition of the tournament and will use the Cameroon tests to sharpen defensive organisation, midfield balance and attacking transitions.
Nigeria remain the most decorated side in African women’s football, but competition has intensified across the continent. With emerging challengers closing the gap, the Yaoundé double-header offers a timely and demanding rehearsal before the continental showpiece begins.
