Technical adviser Christopher Danjuma Musa praised his players’ determination after Nasarawa Amazons FC defeated FC Robo Queens 4-2 in a Matchday 9 clash of the Nigeria Women Football League in Lafia.
The victory ended the first stanza on a positive note for the Amazons, who climbed to second place in Group B with 18 points, four behind leaders FC Robo.
Speaking after the game, Danjuma said the result was vital at this stage of the campaign.
“I feel happy that we picked the three points. It is crucial for us at this stage,” he said.
“The girls showed determination unlike our last match in Akure where we lost. That defeat was due to the break before the game which affected match fitness.
“We are battle ready for the second stanza next month. I believe we will improve and put smiles on the faces of our fans and the state at large.”
FC Robo head coach Emmanuel Osahon acknowledged the quality of the hosts despite the defeat.
He expressed satisfaction with his players’ effort and attributed the loss to fatigue and the youthful nature of his squad. Osahon also assured supporters that the team would regain confidence before the league resumes.
The result keeps the Group B title race open heading into the second stanza, with both sides still firmly in contention.
