Eric Chelle has denied having any direct contact with French club amid recent rumours linking him to the team.
Speaking on the Histoires De Foot Podcast, Chelle explained that the speculation arose from his engagement with a sports agency. "I had no contact with the leaders of Olympique de Marseille," he said. "I signed with an agency to grow as a coach. My agents, like all agents, explored certain clubs in Europe, especially in France. At that moment, OM was looking for a coach, so my agency got in touch with them. After that, we did nothing else."
Chelle stressed that he did not communicate with the club or make any public claims about joining them. "Shortlist, rumours, whatever you hear — me personally, I had no contact," he added.
The former supporter of the club admitted that he would be open to the opportunity if approached. "If you ask me, yes, I would like to coach OM. But I never communicated this. The agency simply did its job, and I don’t really know what happened after that," he said.
Chelle’s clarification comes after social media speculation suggested a closer link between him and the Ligue 1 side, which he attributes to agents doing their work and the viral nature of online rumours.
