Wikki Tourists have been sanctioned by the Nigeria Premier Football League after breaching the league’s Framework and Rules during their Matchday 25 fixture against Katsina United on Sunday, 8 February 2026.
According to the NPFL, the Bauchi club failed to provide adequate and effective security, which resulted in unauthorised persons gaining access to restricted areas of the stadium.
The league also cited unsporting behaviour by Wikki supporters capable of bringing the game into disrepute. Fans were reported to have thrown dangerous objects, including stones, onto the pitch at away team players and match officials.
Wikki were further found guilty of failing to ensure the proper conduct of their supporters. The incidents led to harassment, loss of items and injuries involving match officials and an official of Katsina United.
As a result, the club have been fined N2 million for failing to provide adequate security.
An additional N1.5 million fine was imposed, which includes N250,000 as compensatory cost for the referee’s lost whistle, N250,000 for the referee’s medical expenses, and N500,000 each for medical treatment arising from injuries sustained by a medical personnel and a Katsina United official.
The club were also fined N1 million for unsporting behaviour and another N1 million for throwing dangerous objects onto the pitch.
Furthermore, Wikki Tourists were fined N2 million for holding match officials and the away team hostage for several hours after the match and causing an 18-minute delay before play resumed.
In addition to the financial penalties, Wikki’s home matches will now be played at the Jos Stadium indefinitely.
The club have 48 hours from the date of notification of the sanctions to lodge an appeal.
