Obichere: We Want Maximum Points in Oriental Derby

Defender Obichere Odinaka has declared that Enyimba will settle for nothing less than maximum points when they face Kun Khalifat in Sunday’s Oriental Derby at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

The People’s Elephant head into the Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 28 clash with renewed belief following their commanding performance against Rivers United. But for Obichere, past form and personal ties will count for little once the whistle sounds.

The centre-back, who featured for the Owerri-based side during the first stanza of the season, acknowledged the quality of the visitors but stressed that Enyimba’s focus is firmly on victory.

“I want to sincerely thank our fans for their unwavering support,” Obichere told Enyimba Media. “We are very ready for this game. Our spirit in camp is very high.”

Reflecting on his history with the opposition, he added: “Yes, I was with Kun Khalifat during the first round and they are a good side, very competitive. But on Sunday, we are going for the maximum points. We know what is at stake and we are fully prepared.”

The reverse fixture in Owerri saw Kun Khalifat hand Enyimba their first league defeat of the campaign, a result that still lingers. Sunday’s encounter offers a chance for response as well as an opportunity to climb the table.

With pride, momentum and crucial points on the line, Obichere’s message is unmistakable. Enyimba are ready, and only three points will do.
