Akwa United head coach Paul Offor has warned his players against complacency ahead of Sunday’s Nigeria National League Conference B clash against Stormers SC in Abeokuta.
The Promise Keepers travel to the M.K.O. Abiola Stadium for the Matchday 11 fixture seeking a sixth consecutive victory as they continue their push for promotion.
Akwa United sit top of Conference B with 22 points from ten matches, five clear of sixth-placed Stormers SC, who have amassed 14 points from the same number of games.
Speaking during the team’s final training session in Uyo, Offor stressed the importance of focus and commitment.
“As we prepare for this match against Stormers, we must understand that it will not be an easy game. We have to be fully committed and focused on the task ahead. The journey to our destination is still long, and there is no room for complacency,” he said.
Offor reiterated his belief in the squad’s ability and called for consistency.
“As coaches, we believe in your ability. There are no easy matches in this league, so we must always be prepared, maintain our consistency, and approach every game with a winning mentality. If we play as a unit and take our chances, we are confident of achieving our objective at the end of the season.”
Akwa United have shown defensive solidity this season, conceding just six goals in ten matches while scoring 14. Offor has retained the core of the squad that featured in the Matchday 10 fixture, signalling confidence in the team’s cohesion ahead of Sunday’s encounter, which kicks off at 3.00pm.
