Power Dynamos head coach Osward Mutapa has declared his side fully motivated and targeting maximum points ahead of tomorrow’s CAF Champions League group stage clash against RS Berkane in Ndola.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Mutapa said confidence within the Zambian champions’ camp has been boosted by their hard-earned 1-0 away victory over Nigeria’s Rivers United. He noted that the result has sharpened the team’s focus as they push for a place in the quarter-finals.
Mutapa, however, cautioned that the encounter will demand full concentration, stressing that RS Berkane remain a formidable opponent despite playing away from home.
The Power Dynamos coach also called on the club’s supporters to turn out in large numbers, insisting that home advantage could prove decisive at this stage of the competition.
Third vice-captain Prince Mumba echoed his coach’s optimism, describing the win in Nigeria as a major turning point for the squad’s morale and belief.
“The victory in Nigeria has been a huge morale booster. You can see it in each and every one of us. We are ready to fight against Berkane tomorrow,” Mumba said.
Meanwhile, RS Berkane head coach Mouin Chaâbani insisted that the Moroccan side have arrived in Zambia with a clear objective and will fight for victory at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
RS Berkane midfielder Zinédine Machach also played down any fears of intimidation, stating that his team is prepared to respond to the challenge posed by the hosts.
Power Dynamos and RS Berkane will face off at 15:00 hours tomorrow at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in what promises to be a decisive CAF Champions League group stage encounter, with crucial points at stake for both sides.
