All eyes will be on the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, on Saturday as Bendel Insurance FC host Enyimba FC in a keenly anticipated Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 24 fixture.
With the season entering a crucial phase, both sides head into the encounter desperate for points in what has become one of the league’s most balanced rivalries. Fourteen previous meetings have produced four wins apiece and six draws, highlighting the fine margins that usually define this contest.
Their first meeting of the campaign in Aba lived up to expectations, with Enyimba twice coming from behind to claim a thrilling 3–2 victory. Ezekiel Edidiong was among the scorers on the day, alongside Kalu Nweke and top scorer Chidera Michael, a result Insurance will be keen to overturn on home soil.
Ahead of the 4pm kickoff, Enyimba forward Edidiong has expressed confidence in his side’s readiness, insisting the nine time champions are fully focused on getting a positive outcome in Benin.
“On Saturday we go against Insurance FC in Benin and we are focused on the task ahead,” Edidiong told Enyimba Media after Thursday’s training session.
The striker, who is Enyimba’s second-highest scorer this season, also called on the club’s supporters to maintain their backing as the campaign reaches its decisive stretch.
“At this point we want to urge our darling fans not to relent in their unflinching support as we need them behind us, and we promise to keep working hard to ensure we finish the season on a high,” he said.
Edidiong further highlighted his personal determination to keep contributing goals as Enyimba push for a strong finish.
“On my own part, I will continue to improve on my game and score more goals to help return the team to where it belongs,” he added.
With confidence growing within the camp, Enyimba travel to Benin knowing that a positive result could strengthen their late season momentum and keep them firmly in contention as the NPFL race intensifies.
