We Still Have 33 Points to Fight For, Insists Kwara United Coach

Kwara United head coach Ashifat Suleiman has insisted his side can still preserve their Nigeria Premier Football League status despite a narrow 1-0 defeat to Abia Warriors in Aba.

Casmir Azubuike struck in the 29th minute of the Matchday 27 encounter to hand the hosts all three points on Sunday.

The Harmony Boys responded with determination, pushing for an equaliser, but were repeatedly denied by Abia Warriors goalkeeper Ishaku Aliu. Kwara United goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso also made crucial saves to keep his side within reach.

Gidado Toheeb posed a constant threat in attack, while defenders Babatunde Hannafi and Afeez Bankole produced solid displays at the back as the battle for survival intensifies.

Despite the setback, Suleiman remains confident his team can avoid relegation.

"The struggle for survival continues. We still have 33 points to fight for. This is a difficult moment for us as a team, but we have the opportunity to survive the scare," he said after the match.

Kwara United will host Wikki Tourists in their next fixture as they seek to return to winning ways.
