Heartland F.C. technical adviser Emmanuel Amuneke has admitted his side struggled despite securing a 2-1 victory over Abia Comets F.C. on Saturday.
The Naze Millionaires edged the contest at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, but Amuneke conceded that his team failed to impose themselves in the first half.
“I have to congratulate the boys as the first half was not a good game for us. We struggled in the midfield and we conceded a goal from nothing as we were not able to mark them,” Amuneke told the club’s media.
Heartland improved after the break and turned the game around to claim maximum points.
“In the second half we were able to play to get the victory. We played against a very good team in Abia Comets,” he added.
Amuneke reiterated that results remain the priority, while stressing the need for continued improvement.
“The objective is to get the maximum points in the league and we did that. We will still go back and continue to improve on our game.”
The win strengthens Heartland’s push in the league as they look to build consistency in the coming fixtures.
