Majin Mohammed: We Prepared Well But Were Unlucky Against Kano Pillars

Niger Tornadoes Technical Adviser Majin Mohammed has expressed disappointment after his side played out a goalless draw against Kano Pillars in their Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 30 encounter at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna on Sunday.

Both teams approached the fixture eager to secure maximum points as they continued their fight to move clear of the relegation zone.

The match also represented the second game in a three-match ultimatum handed to Majin, and Tornadoes began with urgency as they pushed forward in search of an early breakthrough.

Niger Tornadoes came closest to scoring on two occasions during the contest. In the first half, Ahmadu Liman struck the woodwork with a powerful long-range effort. Later in the second half, substitute Kufre Ebong saw his attempt crash against the upright before bouncing back into play late in the match.

Despite failing to find the net, the Ikon Allah Boys controlled large spells of the encounter and limited Kano Pillars to only a few clear opportunities.

Majin admitted the outcome was frustrating after his side created enough chances to win the game.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult game because we defeated them in the first leg,” he said. “We prepared well and wanted to win, but we were unlucky, hitting the crossbar on two occasions.”

The coach also acknowledged his side’s struggles in front of goal since the start of the second half of the season. Niger Tornadoes have managed only one victory during that period, a win against Enyimba.

According to Majin, converting chances remains the team’s biggest challenge.

“Before this game we spent the week working on different scoring techniques in training, but unfortunately we still couldn’t find the back of the net,” he added.

Niger Tornadoes will now turn their attention to another crucial home fixture against league leaders Rivers United as they continue their battle to avoid relegation.

Majin revealed that preparations are already underway as the team plans a special approach for the high-stakes encounter.
