Samuel Okechukwu is the Elephant who needs no introduction, at least to grassroots football followers in Aba. It is said that there is no hiding place for a golden fish and it proved true for him.
The 19 year year old is a household name in the grassroots. Enyimba—having the eye for raw talents, brought him into the fold, to the U19 team. Fondly called “Eshiwe” by his friends, he became a teen sensation in the U19 team. The winger has technical skills and abilities that are eye-catching. Whenever he steps onto the pitch, he makes his presence felt.
In 2025, he emerged the best player at the Embassy of Hungary Cup and finished as the second highest scorer with 4 goals in 5 matches and was the highest goal scorer for Enyimba Feeders in the Nationwide League One (NLO), with 5 goals in 8 matches.
It was only a matter of time before being promoted to the senior team where he shone like a star, showing he has earned the right to sit on the table with the big boys. His assets include but not limited to: his pace, agility, versatility, trickery, bravery and his ability to score goals from any angle.
He made his mark in the senior team, contributing directly to 3 goals in 11 games. He provided an assist for Paul Odeh in Enyimba’s game against Plateau United in Aba, scored a long range strike in Lafia against Wikki Tourists and assisted Chidera Michael in the Elephants’ 2-1 win over Abia Warriors.
He also had a good understanding with fellow youth team graduate, Nelson Sule and both combined to annihilate Abia Comets in the state FA Cup semifinal.
Truly, the game is in the hands of the young ones. Samuel Okechukwu will be looking forward to make impact for the Elephants as they push to win the title in the 2026/2027 season.
