Remo Stars Poised to Hand Kunle Soname a Perfect Birthday Gift with League Title

Remo Stars owner Kunle Soname could celebrate his 59th birthday in unforgettable style this Sunday if his club secures the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title.

Victory for Remo Stars would not only mark the club’s first-ever Nigerian championship, but also make Soname the first sole club proprietor to win the title since Oscar Udoji achieved the feat with Udoji United in 1996. It would also mark the first time an Ogun State-based club clinches the league crown, and the first South West club to do so since Shooting Stars triumphed in 1998.

Soname, a quiet and efficient businessman from Ikenne, has built a reputation for success across various sectors. His airline, ValueJet, has been a major sponsor of Nigerian national teams since 2023, providing critical support.

Beyond football, Soname’s generosity is well noted. On Friday, the Nigerian U-17 women's team qualified for the World Cup, with Soname quietly providing financial backing and hosting their home matches — contributions that only came to light through Nigerian Football Federation sources.

If Remo Stars claim the title, it would be a historic moment for Soname, combining personal and professional milestones in one memorable celebration.
