Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has departed the team’s camp ahead of their Unity Cup final clash against Jamaica.
Musa featured as a 60th-minute substitute in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Ghana, a result that secured the team’s place in the final. The appearance was his first for the national side in over 18 months and his first since returning to the Nigeria Premier Football League with Kano Pillars.
His departure was approved by head coach Eric Chelle, who handed him the brief return to the national setup. According to Naifooty sources, Musa left camp before Thursday’s training session due to personal reasons.
Chelle is expected to make a decision on Musa’s future call-ups ahead of Nigeria’s next international fixture in the World Cup Qualifiers scheduled for September.
The sudden exit has sparked reactions among fans, with many expressing shock at the veteran forward’s absence from the final.
