Akwa United Football Club is in mourning following the death of their Team Manager, Sir Emmanuel Udoh KSJ, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
A former defender known for his powerful right-footed shots, Udoh enjoyed a decorated playing career with the Green Eagles of Nigeria, Calabar Rovers, and Bendel Insurance. His remarkable strength on the ball earned him the nickname “Bullet” among fans.
After retiring from professional football, he transitioned into football administration, serving as the Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association for thirteen years. In recognition of his leadership and dedication, he was later appointed Team Manager of Akwa United.
During his tenure, Akwa United experienced significant success, capturing two FA Cup titles in 2015 and 2017, and lifting the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) trophy in 2021.
The club stated that details regarding his funeral will be announced by the family. "We pray to God Almighty to rest his soul and grant his family, loved ones, and the entire football fraternity the strength to bear the loss," the club's Media Manager, Mfon Patrick, said in a statement.
Sir Emmanuel Udoh leaves behind a legacy of excellence and commitment that shaped the history of Akwa United and Nigerian football.
