The Nigeria National League (NNL) has confirmed that the much-anticipated Super 8 tournament will be staged in Asaba, Delta State, from 5 to 12 July 2025.
According to an official statement released by the league board, the decision follows a successful conclusion to the 2024/2025 regular season. The Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba has been approved as the venue for the decisive tournament that will determine the overall league winner and the four clubs to be promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The eight teams that qualified for the Super 8 are: Warri Wolves, Osun United, Crown FC, Kun Khalifa FC (Owerri), Wikki Tourists, Yobe Desert Stars, Doma United, and Barau FC.
In the press release, the NNL expressed gratitude to the Governor of Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for granting approval to host the tournament, describing him as a "sports-loving leader" whose support has helped to solidify the state's status as a hub for Nigerian sports.
"We are happy to announce that the sports-loving Governor of Delta State, Hon. Oborevwori, has given approval for hosting the NNL Super 8 in Asaba, and we're grateful for this kind gesture," the league stated. "By this gesture, we're ready to have a successful completion of the 2024/2025 season and produce the best teams that will play in the top flight next season."
Chairman of the NNL, Mr. George Aluo, assured fans of top-quality football during the week-long event. He noted that all eight teams have demonstrated the calibre needed to compete in the NPFL, and that the league board, working alongside Delta State officials, will ensure flawless logistics and organisation.
"There’ll be no dull moment," Aluo promised. "Football lovers can expect an exciting display of skill and competition, worthy of the Super 8’s reputation."
