As the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 play-offs approach, Crown FC of Ogbomoso have declared themselves battle-ready for a place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), according to the club’s Technical Adviser, Coach Alexander Ayodeji Ayeni.
The Super 8 tournament, set to hold from 5 to 12 July at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, will decide the clubs promoted to Nigeria’s top flight after a competitive 2024/25 season.
Coach Ayeni, speaking after Thursday’s training session, expressed strong belief in his team’s potential to achieve promotion. Crown FC secured second place in Conference A behind Warri Wolves with 36 points, boasting an unbeaten home record, three away wins, and two draws.
“After a short break, we are fully back to business,” said Ayeni. “The players understand the importance of this competition, and we are leaving no stone unturned in our preparation. We are ready to compete.”
Crown FC will face Osun United, Kun Khalifat, and Warri Wolves in the Southern Conference group of the Super 8.
The former Akwa United gaffer also made a heartfelt appeal to the Oyo State Government and well-meaning citizens of Ogbomoso for financial and moral support as the team targets a historic promotion.
“I want to beg and implore the government of Oyo State—if there is a time to rally around this team, this is the time,” Ayeni said. “If there is a time for Governor Seyi Makinde to break another record, this is the time. The sons and daughters of Ogbomoso, especially those who are financially capable, must support us. It’s a collective responsibility.”
He praised Governor Makinde’s "Omituntun 2.0" initiative for advancing sports infrastructure in the state, urging stakeholders to consider Crown FC’s promotion push as a valuable contribution to the administration’s legacy.
The team is expected to depart for Asaba next week, aiming to clinch one of the coveted promotion tickets—an achievement that would not only elevate the club but also make a mark in the history of Oyo State football.
