Crown FC of Ogbomoso have secured their place in the 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight Playoffs following a vital 2-1 away victory over Ijele FC on Matchday 21 in the Southern Conference A.
The decisive fixture took place at the Cathedral, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, where the Ajilete Warriors put up an inspired performance to earn the three points.
Jonathan Okechukwu broke the deadlock in the 49th minute with a well-placed header from Mojeed Adekunle’s corner kick. Though the hosts pulled level in the 58th minute, Crown FC regained the lead in the 72nd minute through a brilliant free-kick from Adekunle.
Crown FC held firm through the remainder of the match, withstanding pressure from Ijele FC to secure a hard-fought win. The final whistle sparked celebrations among the players and coaching crew, confirming their qualification for the Super Eight.
Reacting after the game, Head Coach Ayodeji Ayenii credited divine guidance for the team's progress.
“When we started the season, the goal was clear — qualify for the Super Eight and take Crown FC back to the Elite League,” Ayenii said. “With the quality in our squad and the support from His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, I’m confident we will reach our target.”
The coach also appreciated the club’s management and loyal supporters for their consistent backing throughout the campaign.
With one match remaining in the Southern Conference A, the NNL is expected to announce the official date for the Super Eight Playoffs in the coming days.
