CHAN Super Eagles defender Imoh Obot has officially ended his four-year spell with Enyimba FC, paving the way for a potential high-profile transfer within the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Obot, who joined Enyimba from Dakkada FC in 2020, has established himself as one of the league’s most reliable left-backs. His tenure with the People’s Elephant saw him clinch an NPFL title and feature in both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup. He also earned a senior national team cap in a friendly against Mexico.
Noted for his pinpoint set-pieces, powerful overlapping runs, and calmness under pressure, Obot’s departure has already attracted interest from top clubs across the league.
During his time at Enyimba, Obot reportedly earned a monthly salary of ₦650,000, underlining his value to the Aba-based side.
Sources close to the player reveal that talks are underway with several NPFL sides, with Rivers United FC reportedly leading the race. The Port Harcourt-based club, now coached by former Enyimba boss Finidi George, is believed to be keen on reuniting with the player.
Obot is also expected to play a key role for Nigeria at the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN), bringing experience and versatility to the home-based squad.
With his contract officially expired, Imoh Obot’s next destination is set to be one of the most talked-about moves of the NPFL off-season.
