Odeyemi's Header Lifts Osun United Past League Leaders Kun Khalifat

Osun United returned to winning ways with a crucial 1-0 victory over table-toppers Kun Khalifat FC in a rescheduled Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday 20 clash held in Ileogbo.

The decisive moment came in the 11th minute when Ebenezer Odeyemi headed home the lone goal of the encounter. The goal followed a brilliant sequence, with Nurudeen Abolude executing a sharp scissors kick off Justice Nwogu’s long throw into the box.

Earlier, Nwogu had a chance to open the scoring in the 6th minute with a long-range strike, but his effort narrowly missed the target. Osun United maintained their lead into halftime, holding off Kun Khalifat’s pressure despite a fiercely contested first half.

The second half saw Kun Khalifat push hard for an equalizer, but Osun United's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Asimiyu Bello, remained solid to preserve the clean sheet.

With the victory, the Gladiators climb back to second place on the NNL table with 33 points, while Kun Khalifat stay top despite the setback.

Head coach Seye Ajayi lauded his players for their fighting spirit and urged them to sustain the momentum as they prepare for a tough test away to Gateway FC in Ijebu-Ode.

The win provides a timely confidence boost for Osun United in their quest for promotion.
