El-Kanemi Warriors FC were involved in two friendly matches on Friday, 18 July 2025, at the El-Kanemi Warriors Stadium in Maiduguri. The morning encounter ended in a 1-1 draw against Abteema Academy, while the evening fixture saw the Warriors cruise to a 4-0 victory over Qatar Academy.
The early match against Abteema Academy was tightly contested. The visitors took the lead through a well-taken free kick by Kachalla, who beat El-Kanemi’s goalkeeper Achem Francis shortly before the break.
El-Kanemi responded in the second half, making key tactical adjustments. A goalkeeping error from Abteema allowed the hosts to equalise, with one of El-Kanemi’s strikers capitalising on the mistake to make it 1-1. Despite their attacking efforts, the Warriors were unable to find a winner as Abteema’s defence remained resolute.
According to GAGA, El-Kanemi Warriors Media Officer, later in the day, the 2024 President Federation Cup winners returned to face Qatar Academy, a team sponsored by Alhaji Waziri. The match began at 4:22 PM, officiated by referee Usman Baffa.
The Warriors dominated from the outset. In the 13th minute, Bilal Yakubu delivered a pinpoint cross that Rislanu Ismail met with a powerful header to open the scoring. Al’amin doubled the advantage before half-time with a composed finish.
Al’amin continued his impressive display after the break, scoring twice in quick succession in the 57th and 60th minutes to complete a hat trick and secure a 4-0 win for the hosts.
Following their strong performances, El-Kanemi Warriors will take a short break over the weekend before resuming preparations for the forthcoming Ahlan Cup and the new season.
