Nigeria’s Super Falcons kicked off their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign in emphatic fashion with a 3-0 triumph over Tunisia in Casablanca.
The nine-time African champions set the tone early, as star striker Asisat Oshoala found the back of the net to give Nigeria the lead within the opening stages of the match.
Debutant Rinsola Babajide extended the advantage just before the interval, calmly converting in the 44th minute to make it 2-0 at halftime.
Tunisia regrouped in the second half and put up a more resilient performance. However, their defensive efforts were undone in the 83rd minute when Chinwendu Ihezuo added a third goal to seal the win for Nigeria.
The Falcons remained solid at the back, denying Tunisia any chance of a late comeback, and cruised to a convincing victory to start their WAFCON 2024 journey on a high.
