Barau Football Club technical adviser, Isah Ladan Bosso, has expressed pride in his players despite their goalless draw against Enyimba in their opening fixture of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The tightly contested match, played on Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, saw Barau FC create several chances but fail to find the back of the net.
Speaking after the match, Bosso said, “The result was not what we expected, but we thank God for the draw. We deserved to win this match because our players gave their best. But that is football. If Enyimba can come to Kano and pick up points, then we also have the chance to go anywhere and get points.”
Bosso also praised the massive turnout of Kano supporters, describing it as a historic moment for the club. “Today is a historic day as the people of Kano and Barau FC came together to support us. I really appreciate it,” he said.
Looking ahead to their next fixture against Bayelsa United in Yenagoa, Bosso expressed confidence in his team. “Bayelsa United is my former team. I know them well, and they also know me. Going to Yenagoa is not new to me, and I hope we return to Kano with points,” he added.
Team captain Salim Ali also commended his teammates for their performance and vowed that the squad would keep improving as the season progresses.
Barau FC will travel to the Samson Siasia Sports Stadium to face Bayelsa United on Sunday, 31 August, as they look to claim their first victory of the campaign.
