Kingsley Morrison, Chief Executive Officer of KMK Foundation Academy, has criticised the exclusion of Hon John Ekpenyong from the newly constituted board of Akwa Ibom State football teams, describing the decision as “a slap in the face” of the Oron people.
Morrison expressed deep concern over what he termed the continued marginalisation of Oron, despite the community’s significant contributions to the growth and success of football in the state. He stressed that Oron, known for producing talented footballers and supporting local teams, deserves fair representation in the administration of the sport.
“The exclusion of Hon Ekpenyong is a disservice to a community that has remained loyal to the state’s football teams,” Morrison said. “It is time to correct this injustice and ensure inclusivity and fairness in our football administration.”
He emphasised that the decision overlooks the wealth of experience and passion that Ekpenyong brings to the sport, warning that such actions risk alienating a key stakeholder group in Akwa Ibom football.
Morrison called on the state’s football authorities to revisit the decision and ensure that Oron’s voice is not left out in shaping the future of the game in Akwa Ibom. He noted that fair representation would not only restore trust among the people of Oron but also strengthen unity and drive progress in the state’s football sector.
“The people of Oron deserve better,” he added. “Correcting this misstep will go a long way in fostering growth, fairness and harmony in our football community.”
