Kanu Rallies Revamped Enyimba To Chase 2025/26 NPFL Title

Enyimba Football Club Chairman and Nigerian football legend, Ambassador Nwankwo Kanu, has urged his newly rebuilt squad to challenge strongly for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title in the 2025/26 season.

The former Super Eagles captain delivered the message during the People’s Elephant’s final build-up session ahead of Sunday’s league opener against Barau FC in Kano.

Kanu reminded the players that Enyimba’s tradition demands success, stressing that the work put into strengthening the team must translate into silverware. The Aba giants narrowly missed out on the title two seasons ago and slipped to sixth place last term.

“We have revamped this team for one purpose – to win,” Kanu said. “Enyimba must always aim for glory. Every player, new or old, has to give their best in every game because when the club shines, it also reflects positively on your own career.”

The ex-Arsenal and Inter Milan forward also noted that competition for places within the squad should be viewed as a means of raising standards rather than rivalry. He reassured the players that management would continue to provide the necessary backing to help them achieve success.

“As a management, we are ready to play our part. We will ensure you get what is due to you. All we ask in return is that you play with passion, play with positivity, and deliver results for Enyimba and for yourselves,” he said.

With nine league titles, Enyimba remain Nigeria’s most successful club. The mood in Aba is charged with anticipation as fans look forward to seeing a mix of new signings and experienced players respond to Kanu’s rallying call.

The People’s Elephant begin their NPFL campaign on Sunday against newly promoted Barau FC in Kano.
