KMK FA Hold Enyimba to Entertaining Draw in Aba

KMK Foundation Academy continued their impressive form at the Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico/Select Preseason Tournament, holding Nigeria Professional Football League giants Enyimba FC to a 1-1 draw in a thrilling encounter on Tuesday at the Aba Centre.

The Uyo-based side, one of the tournament’s surprise packages, took the lead in the 42nd minute through David Olatunji, who capitalised on a defensive error to slot home calmly.

Enyimba responded immediately, pushing for an equaliser with several attacking moves but failed to convert their chances before the break. The introduction of Atule Joseph, Nwaorisa Onyebuchi, Chidera Michael, and Aniebet Sunday in the second half reinvigorated the Aba giants.

Atule eventually found the breakthrough, dribbling his way past KMK’s defence to level the score, reminiscent of his stellar performances last season.

Enyimba had the opportunity to seal victory late in the game after they were awarded a penalty. However, Chidera Michael’s effort was saved by KMK’s young goalkeeper, who emerged as one of the match’s standout performers.

The result means KMK Foundation Academy now top Group A with eight points from four games, while Enyimba trail closely behind with seven points from three matches.

Both sides return to action on Wednesday. KMK will face Heartland FC at 10am, while Enyimba take on Kun Khalifat FC at 4pm in a match some are billing as a preview of the next NPFL oriental derby.
