Nigeria will receive $300,000 (approximately N460 million) from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) despite exiting the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in the group stage.
The Home-Based Eagles finished third in their group following the conclusion of the preliminary round in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
On Tuesday, Nigeria defeated Congo 2-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium with second-half goals from Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi. However, the result was not enough to secure qualification, as both sides were eliminated from the competition.
Nigeria had already suffered defeats to Senegal and Sudan in their opening two matches, leaving their final group fixture as a formality. Senegal and Sudan advanced to the quarter-finals as the top two teams in Group D.
