NPFL Youth League Kicks Off Across Three Centres

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Youth League for U-19 players will commence across three designated centres — Ikenne, Umuahia and Kano, as part of the wrap-up activities for the 2024/25 season.

In a zonal format aimed at reducing travel and enhancing competitiveness, participating NPFL clubs have been grouped according to their geographical proximity.

Action begins on Monday, 4 August, in Ikenne where Remo Stars will host Shooting Stars, Ikorodu City, Sunshine Stars, Kwara United and Bendel Insurance. Fixtures in this zone will run through to 9 August.

Kano will host the next phase from 10 to 16 August, with Kano Pillars leading the group that also includes El-Kanemi Warriors, Katsina United, Nasarawa United, Niger Tornadoes and Plateau United.

The Umuahia zone features a larger pool, with eight teams vying for qualification. Abia Warriors, Akwa United, Enyimba, Rangers, Heartland, Bayelsa United, Rivers United and Lobi Stars will all compete for a place in the finals.

The top two teams from each zone will advance to the final playoff, where a round-robin format will decide the overall champions of the NPFL Youth League.

The competition serves as a crucial platform for talent development, as well as a closing chapter to the 2024/25 NPFL campaign.
