Wikki Tourists FC Set for Gusau/Ahlan Tournament as Coach Maikaba Urges Calm Approach



Wikki Tourists Football Club have departed for Lafia, Nasarawa State, ahead of the 2025 Gusau/Ahlan Preseason Tournament, where they are set to begin their campaign against Ben FC on Sunday, 3 August.

The match, which kicks off at 10:00am at the Lafia City Stadium, marks the start of the Tourists’ journey in Group A, which also includes SI14 FC and hosts Nasarawa United.

Speaking during a light regeneration session upon arrival in Lafia, Head Coach Abdu Maikaba encouraged his players to play freely and avoid pressure.



“Play your game, no pressure,” Maikaba told his squad, urging them to remain composed and focused ahead of their opening fixture.

Wikki Tourists were runners-up in the 2024 edition of the competition and are aiming to go one step further by lifting the title this time around. The club sees the tournament as a crucial phase in preparing for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Other prominent clubs confirmed for the tournament include Kano Pillars, Plateau United, Katsina United, Mighty Jets, Lobi Stars, Niger Tornadoes, Cynosure FC, and Discovery FC, setting the stage for a fiercely contested pre-season.

Wikki Tourists FC remain optimistic about their chances and are looking to make a strong impression throughout the competition.
