Enyimba Football Club have expressed deep gratitude to the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, for his unwavering support and generous gesture following their dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Bendel Insurance FC in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) MatchDay 5 fixture at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.
The club’s appreciation was conveyed in a statement released by its management on Monday, 22 September 2025.
Governor Otti was in attendance for the encounter, and his presence, combined with words of encouragement, provided a major lift for the team as they fought back from an early deficit to secure a memorable victory. The People’s Elephant showed determination and resilience, coming from behind to score three goals and seal all three points.
Enyimba were particularly thankful for the governor’s pledge of N30 million, awarded at N10 million per goal scored. The club described the gesture as a significant morale boost for the squad as they continue their pursuit of success in the league.
“The entire team is eternally grateful for the remarkable N30 million gesture. Your uncommon motivation and generous support inspired our spirited fightback. We assure you that we will not relent in our quest to bring glory to Abia and our esteemed fans this season,” the statement read in part.
Enyimba’s management further assured the governor and their supporters that the club remain committed to reclaiming their place at the summit of Nigerian and African football.
