Bayelsa United will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season when they take on Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna, on Sunday. Kick-off is scheduled for 4pm.
The Prosperity Boys, guided by head coach Monday Odigie, began the campaign with a hard-fought away win against Shooting Stars before easing past Barau FC 2-0 in Yenagoa. Confidence in the squad is growing, with new signings settling in and contributing to their early momentum.
Winger Garba Shuaibu and midfield maestro Wisdom Magbisa, who starred in the victory over Barau FC, are expected to play pivotal roles again as Bayelsa United seek another vital result on the road. For Odigie’s men, the match represents more than just the chance to protect their 100 per cent record. It is an opportunity to send a strong signal to rivals that they are genuine contenders this season.
Niger Tornadoes, however, will be determined to bounce back in front of their home supporters after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Enyimba last weekend. The Ikon Allah Boys are keen to avoid back-to-back losses and will look to use the energy of their Minna crowd to upset Bayelsa United’s fine start.
With both teams highly motivated, the encounter promises to be an engaging battle in Minna.
