NPFL Referee Assessor Rachael Enagbare Passes Away in Lagos

Rachael Enagbare, the Referee Assessor appointed for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 4 fixture between Ikorodu City FC and Barau FC, has died in Lagos.

Enagbare, from Edo State, reportedly complained of discomfort on Saturday and was rushed to hospital after attending the pre-match meeting on Sunday morning. She was confirmed dead shortly after.

NPFL Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, described her passing as a huge loss to Nigerian football.
“The NPFL family is deeply saddened by the unfortunate and unexpected passing of the former referee who has been working with us as a match referee assessor. We extend our sincere condolences to her immediate family and to the Nigeria Referees Association,” Elegbeleye said.

He added that the league body will work with the Lagos State Football Association, the Lagos Referees Council, and the Nigeria Referees Association to ensure her remains are returned to her family.
