Rivers United head coach, Finidi George, has expressed confidence that his side will find suitable playing conditions in Maputo ahead of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round first-leg encounter against Black Bulls.
The Pride of Rivers will face the Mozambican champions on Saturday as they push for a place in the group stage of the continental competition.
Speaking before the team’s departure, Finidi stressed the importance of a good pitch and atmosphere to enable his players to implement their game plan effectively.
“We have learnt from the mistakes of our recent games,” Finidi said. “We’ve corrected the lapses, and hopefully, we’ll get a good atmosphere in Maputo to play our game.”
Rivers United advanced to this stage after defeating Les Aigles of DR Congo in the previous round. The return leg will be played in Uyo, where the Nigerian side will aim to secure qualification to the next phase.
