Doma United FC of Gombe continued their preparations for the upcoming NNL season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Adamawa United in a friendly match played on Friday evening in Numan, Adamawa State.
The encounter was intense and entertaining, with both teams showing strong determination. Doma United took control early on and were rewarded before the break when 17-year-old A. Mahmoud, popularly known as China, found the back of the net.
Despite facing a spirited Adamawa United side, Doma United’s goalkeeper, Emmanuel Oche, delivered an outstanding performance to keep a clean sheet, denying several close attempts from the hosts.
The game took a dramatic turn late on when Doma United were reduced to ten men after Desmond was shown a red card. However, the visitors held firm to protect their narrow lead until the final whistle.
After the match, Doma United’s Technical Adviser, Najib Mabo, commended his players for their fighting spirit and teamwork, describing the result as a positive step in their pre-season build-up.
The win was historic for Doma United, marking the first time Adamawa United have been defeated at home since their stadium was inaugurated.
Doma United will now turn their attention to the Ahlan Cup pre-season tournament, which is set to take place next week in Bauchi State.
