The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed a two-year contract for Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu, rewarding him for leading the team to glory at the last CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Madugu masterminded the Super Falcons’ record-extending 10th continental title after a comeback victory over host nation Morocco in a pulsating final, a result that further cemented Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
NFF General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi revealed the development in an interview with BSN Sports on Friday, noting that the decision followed a detailed review by the Federation’s Technical Committee and Technical Department.
“Justin Madugu has been given a two-year contract by the NFF,” Sanusi stated. “After assessing all options, both departments agreed that Madugu’s understanding of the team gives him an edge over other candidates.”
Although the NFF did not release details of his remuneration, Madugu’s appointment will see him lead the Super Falcons into the next WAFCON, which Morocco will host again in 2026. The upcoming edition will feature 16 teams for the first time, marking a new era for the competition.
Madugu’s achievements have also gained international recognition, as he was recently nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or Coach of the Year award, making him the first African coach to earn the prestigious nomination.
