Wikki Tourists FC fell short in Maiduguri as they lost 2–1 to El-kanemi Warriors in a tightly contested NPFL Matchday 9 clash.
Emmanuel Jonas opened the scoring for the hosts in the 9th minute before Samaila Bello made it 2–0 in the 36th minute. Wikki responded just before halftime when Abdullahi Usman (Pepe) converted from close range after being set up by Jonathan Mairiga.
The second half saw the Bauchi Giants pile on the pressure, creating numerous opportunities but failing to level the score. Despite the defeat, Wikki earned praise for their resilience and improved display on the road.
The result leaves Wikki Tourists in 16th place with nine points from nine matches, while El-kanemi Warriors rise to seventh on 14 points.
Next up for Wikki is a home fixture against Shooting Stars (3SC) at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, where they will be eager to secure maximum points in front of their supporters. El-kanemi will head to Katsina for a North West vs North East derby against Katsina United at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium.
