Coach Edwin Okon has expressed his disappointment following Ibom Angels’ goalless draw against Naija Ratels FC in the opening match of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.
The match, held on Wednesday at Bwari Stadium in Abuja, saw the Orange Ladies drop two crucial points in their quest for a strong start this season.
Speaking after the game, Okon revealed the team had aimed to secure all three points. He also acknowledged the challenge posed by having several players who are yet to experience premiership football.
Despite this, Okon remains positive about the team’s prospects, promising to make changes to strengthen the squad ahead of future fixtures.
"I always like good football, I’m an apostle of good football," Okon said. "Expect good football from Ibom Angels, no matter their class, no matter their levels. I’m a grassroots coach, and I love grassroots football so much."
Ibom Angels will be eager to bounce back when they host Pacesetter FC of Ibadan on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Uyo Township Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
