Falconets Fly Past Ghana to Claim WAFU B U20 Crown

Nigeria’s Falconets delivered a commanding performance in Benin Republic on Tuesday morning as they swept aside the Ghana Black Princesses 3-0 to win the WAFU B U20 Girls Cup title.

Janet Akekoromowei set the tone in the 17th minute, finishing confidently before Alaba Olabiyi added the second seven minutes later. Ghana, who had already fallen 1-3 to Nigeria at the same venue on Saturday, struggled to cope with the pace and precision of the Nigerian attack.

Akekoromowei, who scored twice in the earlier meeting, and Ramotalahi Kareem, who recorded a brace against Benin Republic, remained influential throughout the campaign as Nigeria powered to the summit of the three-nation tournament.

With nine points and a goal difference of plus eight, the Falconets scored three goals in each of their matches to finish as champions. Ghana followed with six points after two victories over hosts Benin Republic.

Nigeria will meet Benin Republic again on Wednesday morning in a ceremonial fixture, having already secured the trophy.
