Kwara United head coach Ashifat Suleiman has issued a rallying call to his players ahead of Sunday’s North Central derby against Niger Tornadoes, stressing that the team are fully prepared for a fierce contest at the Rashidi Yekini Stadium in Ilorin.
Speaking after Thursday’s training session, Suleiman said the atmosphere in camp remains positive despite last weekend’s narrow 3–2 defeat to Barau FC in Kano. He noted that the squad have moved on from the setback and are committed to securing all three points.
Suleiman emphasised that the technical crew have addressed the errors witnessed in their last outing and that the players are ready to respond with character.
“Areas of loopholes have been corrected, and we are ready for a fierce North Central battle in our next game against Niger Tornadoes,” he said.
Sunday’s fixture carries added significance, as Tornadoes completed a double over Kwara United last season with victories in Ilorin and Minna. The Harmony Boys, now 14th with 18 points, are eager to avoid losing further ground in a tightly contested NPFL table.
Kwara United have been boosted by the return of Gidado Toheeb and Olarewaju AbdulRahman from injury, although Aliyu Salaudeen, Issa Gata and Shola Abdulraheem are still unavailable.
With Tornadoes currently on 23 points and in confident form, Suleiman has insisted that discipline, focus and intensity will be central to his team’s approach as they push for a much-needed home win.
