The Nigeria National League has fined Gombe United FC a total of N2.5 million following supporters’ and officials’ misconduct during the club’s Matchday Seven fixture against Jigawa Golden Stars.
The league found Gombe United culpable after supporters and officials encroached onto the pitch and pressured the referee into changing a goal kick decision to a penalty. The incident disrupted the match and forced the referee to abandon the game with the scoreline at 0–0.
In its ruling, the NNL described the actions as a clear breach of league rules and consequently imposed a N2 million fine on the club.
The league further directed that the abandoned fixture be completed on January 16, 2026, at the New Jos Stadium. The match will be played behind closed doors.
In addition, Gombe United has been ordered to pay N500,000 to Jigawa Golden Stars as subsidised accommodation costs, bringing the total financial penalty to N2.5 million. All payments must be settled on or before January 9, 2026.
The NNL also issued a strong warning to clubs, supporters and officials, stressing the importance of fair play, safety and respect for match officials.
The league noted that the decision aligns with its zero tolerance stance on misconduct, citing the recent expulsion of Sporting Supreme FC for failing to honour two consecutive league fixtures.
