Saraki Takes Kwara Youths to Morocco to Rally Super Eagles at AFCON

Former Senate President and Proprietor of ABS FC Ilorin, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, sponsored several football stakeholders and youth groups from Kwara State and other parts of Nigeria to Morocco to support the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The initiative highlighted Saraki’s long-standing commitment to sports development and youth empowerment, as dozens of young sports enthusiasts and administrators travelled to North Africa to witness Africa’s biggest football competition and cheer Nigeria on in their quest for continental glory.

Among the beneficiaries was the Chairman of ABS FC, Mr Seni Saraki, who led members of the club’s management team alongside selected players. Their presence added to the morale of the Super Eagles and also provided valuable exposure for young footballers experiencing an international football environment for the first time.

Beyond the ABS FC delegation, other beneficiaries were drawn from youth groups and sports enthusiast circles across Kwara State and beyond. The larger supporters’ group was coordinated by Comrade Adio Odunjo, who ensured an organised and spirited show of support for the national team.

The sponsorship was carried out in three batches to guarantee sustained Nigerian presence during the decisive stages of the tournament. While some delegates travelled for the semi-final fixtures, others attended the third-place playoff, with a final group present for the tournament final.

Dr Saraki was also in Morocco during the competition, where he was seen in the company of former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, Arsenal legend David Dein, and other respected figures in world football. His presence alongside global football personalities further underlined his reputation as a sports advocate beyond Nigeria.

A known sports enthusiast and administrator, Saraki has consistently invested in grassroots and professional football, with ABS FC Ilorin serving as a key platform for his vision of youth development through sports.

Several beneficiaries described the experience as life-changing and expressed gratitude for the opportunity. They praised Saraki for his generosity and belief in the power of football to inspire, unite and empower young people.

Through the initiative, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki reaffirmed his commitment to sports, youth development and the future of Nigerian football.
