The Quarter-finals of the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League will begin this weekend with four first-leg clashes involving some of Africa’s most successful clubs.
Eight teams remain in the competition as the knockout phase starts following an entertaining group stage campaign. The stakes are even higher after the Confédération Africaine de Football announced an increase in prize money, with the winners set to receive USD 6 million.
South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns open the Quarter-finals on Friday when they host Mali’s Stade Malien at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria. Sundowns, champions in 2016, are aiming to go one better than last season when they finished as runners-up. Stade Malien return to the knockout rounds of the competition for the first time since 1985.
Also on Friday, defending champions Pyramids FC travel to Morocco to face AS FAR in Rabat. The Egyptian side impressed in the group stage, collecting 16 points from six matches and scoring 14 goals. The tie is a repeat of last season’s Quarter-final meeting between the two sides.
On Saturday, Moroccan club RS Berkane will welcome Sudan’s Al Hilal to the Stade Municipal de Berkane. The hosts are featuring in the CAF Champions League for the first time after winning the CAF Confederation Cup, while Al Hilal are appearing in the Quarter-finals for the second consecutive season.
