Nasarawa Amazons secured a valuable away point after playing out a 1–1 draw with Delta Queens in their Nigeria Women Football League Premiership Matchday 10 fixture in Asaba on Wednesday.
The encounter, which kicked off at 4:05 pm, produced a competitive contest as both sides showed intensity and determination throughout the game.
Nasarawa Amazons made a bright start and nearly opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Okah’s effort crashed against the crossbar.
Despite the visitors’ early pressure, Delta Queens took the lead in first half stoppage time. The hosts capitalised on an attack from the left wing and Anesthesia Terfa scored as the host go into the break with a 1–0 advantage.
The Lafia-based side responded quickly after the restart. Midfielder Omosuyi Ayowunmi levelled the score in the 49th minute following sustained attacking pressure from the visitors.
Both teams pushed for a late winner, but neither side could find the decisive goal as the match ended in a draw.
Nasarawa Amazons head coach Christopher Danjuma said after the game that every point remains important in the race for a Super Six place. He added that the team is gradually improving its cohesion as the season progresses.
The Amazons will now shift focus to their next fixture where they host Dannaz Ladies on Matchday 11 of the NWFL Premiership.
