Technical Adviser Majin Mohammed has expressed confidence that Niger Tornadoes can revive their campaign as the club prepares for two important home fixtures against Kano Pillars and Rivers United.
The Minna-based side head into the matches looking to end a run of five games without a win, a streak that has seen them slide down the league table and increase pressure on the coaching crew and players.
Majin admitted the situation requires a strong response from everyone involved with the team.
“There are no more excuses. It is time for everyone to roll up their sleeves and show their true loyalty to the team,” he said.
The coach also urged the senior players in the squad to step forward and provide leadership during the difficult period.
“It is time for the most experienced players in the team to demonstrate their leadership. Every player must play for the badge and for the fans who have remained solidly behind the team,” he added.
Majin, who was popularly known as the “Aje Winger” during his playing days, noted that periods of poor form are common in football but stressed that the team must show character in their response.
“Every top team experiences periods like this. What matters is how we react and come out of it. This is a wake-up call for everyone associated with the club, management, coaches, players and supporters, to rally around the team,” he said.
Despite recent setbacks that led to a three-game ultimatum for the technical crew, including a defeat to Plateau United in Jos, Majin remains optimistic that Niger Tornadoes can begin their recovery when they face Kano Pillars this weekend.
