Mangut Mwas Reacts As Nasarawa United Edge Ikorodu City 1-0

Technical Adviser of Nasarawa United, Mangut Mwas, has described his side’s 1-0 victory over Ikorodu City as a difficult contest against a strong title-chasing opponent.

Speaking after the match, Mwas admitted that his team approached the first half cautiously because of the threat posed by Ikorodu City.

“Before now, we were very much aware of how difficult this game would be, knowing that Ikorodu City are also a team in contention for the league title,” he said.

The Nasarawa United coach revealed that his side struggled to create chances in the opening half as they sat back and showed their opponents too much respect.

“We gave them a lot of respect in the first half. We sat back a lot and there was no chance created,” he added.

Mwas said tactical adjustments made after the break proved decisive as his side improved their attacking play.

“So we decided to effect some changes in the second half and you saw that those changes made the difference for us.”

Despite the narrow scoreline, the Nasarawa United coach expressed gratitude for the victory and stressed the need for improvement as the season approaches its final stretch.

“In all, we are grateful to God for the victory, regardless of the scoreline,” he said.

“With nine matches to end the current league season, we will continue to improve on our scoring and defending abilities to finish strong on the table.”
