Wikki Tourists Technical Adviser Evans Ogenyi praised the resilience of his players after they came from behind to defeat Elkanemi Warriors 2-1 in their Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 29 clash.
Elkanemi Warriors took an early lead just two minutes into the encounter when Daddy Abdul Rahman scored with a curling effort that beat Wikki goalkeeper Utum Godswill.
Wikki Tourists responded late in the first half as Kkingshak Longbak equalised in the second minute of added time. The forward finished from a precise assist by John Taiwo to send both teams into the break level.
The home side completed the comeback in the 52nd minute when Imamu Bala scored the decisive goal after a goalmouth tussle, finishing from Abba Musa’s assist.
Reacting after the match, Ogenyi, who was in charge of his first game, commended the determination shown by his players after conceding early.
“It is not easy to come from behind to win a game, especially after conceding so early. I take my hat off to the players for their resilience,” Ogenyi said.
The coach added that the team must continue improving as they prepare for their next league fixture against Shooting Stars next weekend.
